Findings from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KMIS) Survey

According to Espreso.tv: A survey conducted by the KMIS in May 2023 measured public trust in 18 prominent figures and assessed party standings ahead of the next parliamentary elections. The results highlight strong backing for several key politicians and offer insight into voter sentiment as the 2026 elections approach.

Trust Levels Among Public Figures

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tops the trust rankings with 61% of respondents expressing confidence in him, while 34% distrust him, yielding a net trust balance of +27%. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov follows with 52% trust and 19% distrust, giving him a +32% balance. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov also posts a strong positive score, with 50% trust and a net balance of +29%. Mykolaiv Regional Governor Vitaliy Kim records 47% trust versus 27% distrust, for a +20% balance.

Other notable figures include:

  • Oleh Lyashko: 47% trust, 43% distrust (net +5%).
  • Serhiy Prytula: 46% trust, 44% distrust (net +2%).
  • Petro Poroshenko: only 26% trust.
  • Yuriy Boyko and Yulia Tymoshenko receive significantly lower trust levels, at 6% and 11% respectively, with net balances of -72% and -75%.

On June 5, 2023, the survey also released party ratings for the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 2026. The top three parties are Valeriy Zaluzhnyi’s party, the ‘Bloc of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’, and ‘European Solidarity’. These results reflect active public engagement and shifting political dynamics in the lead-up to the vote.

The survey findings underscore the critical role of public trust in shaping political outcomes as Ukraine prepares for its next parliamentary elections. High approval ratings for certain leaders point to enduring influence and potential scenarios for the country’s political landscape in the coming years.
