Biography of Yuri Boyko

Yuri Anatolyevich Boyko - People's Deputy of Ukraine, since April 21, 2022, Chairman of the faction of the Platform for Life and Peace in the Verkhovna Rada, founded by former members of the Opposition Platform - for Life.

Boyko was born on October 9, 1958, in Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast. He holds two higher education degrees: Chemical Engineer from the Mendeleyev Moscow Chemical-Technological Institute (1981) and Economic Engineer from the East Ukrainian University (2001).

From 1981 to 1999, Boyko advanced his career from production manager to General Director of the Zarya Chemical Plant in Rubizhne. From 1999 to 2001, he was the General Director of the Joint Stock Company Lisichansknefteorgsintez (Lisichansk Oil Refinery). From August 2001 to February 2002, he served as Chairman of the Board of the Joint Stock Company Ukrtatnafta (Kremenchug Oil Refinery).

As of January 31, 2002, Boyko was appointed Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Ukraine. From July 2003 to March 2005, he was the First Deputy Minister of Fuel and Energy - Chairman of Naftogaz Ukraine. Boyko also served as Minister of Energy of Ukraine in the government of Viktor Yanukovych and acted as Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Boyko was also a member of the Party of Regions and the Opposition Bloc. He ran for President of Ukraine in 2014 and 2019.

Boyko's title of Hero of Ukraine is not revoked: There are not enough reasons

Boyko received the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of State Dignity for the complete settlement of the gas debt to the Russian Federation. He was also awarded the Order of Turkmenistan for the full settlement of Ukraine's gas debts.

Boyko is the Chairman of the faction of the Platform for Life and Peace in the Verkhovna Rada of the IX Congress, composed of former members of the Opposition Platform - for Life.

In his personal life, Boyko is married and raising six children.
