According to inkorr.com: On October 28 at around 15:00, a strong explosion occurred in an apartment building on Ternopil Street, 34/2, in Khmelnytskyi. According to representatives of the State Emergency Service and the police, the cause of the explosion was the detonation of household gas.

'Half an hour ago there was a loud explosion in Khmelnytskyi. It is not related to military actions. Preliminary information indicates that a household gas explosion occurred in the high-rise building at Ternopil, 34/2. Part of the building is destroyed, and part is severely damaged. We are most concerned about human lives; currently, we don’t have information about victims. However, there may be people under the rubble,' said the mayor of Khmelnytskyi, Oleksandr Symchishyn.

The explosion led to the destruction of three floors of the building. All emergency services, including a police investigative team, patrols, experts, dog handlers, and three ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene.

According to Oleksandr Kostiuk, the director of the Khmelnytskyi regional center for emergency medical assistance and disaster medicine, as of 16:12, two people received medical assistance. 'A 12-year-old child is in acute stress response, a man has a cut leg,' he noted.

Emergency services have begun rubble removal work. Information about possible victims under the debris is being clarified.

'In Khmelnytskyi, the gas explosion completely destroyed three floors of the high-rise building. By the way, we are ready for the heating season,' commented Oleg Popenko, an expert in the housing and utilities sector.

It should be noted that the heating season in Ukraine officially began on October 28, as announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier.
