Venezuela rejected the temporary leader from the US: Rodriguez declared unity with Maduro.
According to ТСН: The political crisis in Venezuela is escalating. Meanwhile, Washington is trying to appoint a controlled leadership after the ousting of Nicolas Maduro, but in Caracas, they are facing open defiance.
The 'Partner' who became an enemy
On Saturday, Donald Trump announced that Delcy Rodriguez, former vice president of Maduro, took an oath as the country's temporary leader. According to him, she is 'essentially ready to do what we think is necessary to make Venezuela great again.'
Trump hoped that she would become a key partner in the US plans regarding Venezuela. He also warned the Venezuelan elites: 'All political and military figures must understand: what happened to Maduro can happen to you too,' if they do not comply.
'Masks have come off'
However, just two hours later, Rodriguez gave a televised address in which she refuted Trump's statements. She appeared on screen together with the National Defense Council - the Minister of Defense, the Attorney General, and the heads of parliament and courts, demonstrating the unity of power against the US.
'We are determined to be free. What is happening with Venezuela is barbarism,' she stated.
Rodriguez accused Washington of misinformation and selfish intentions.
'Masks have come off, revealing only one goal: regime change in Venezuela... This regime change will also allow the seizure of our energy, mineral and natural resources. This is the real goal, and the world should know this,' Rodriguez emphasized.
Loyalty to Maduro
Despite the US claims about her 'presidency,' Venezuelan state television continued to label her as 'vice president.' In her speech, Rodriguez repeatedly referred to Nicolas Maduro as the 'only president' of the country, demonstrating that the team of the ousted dictator has no intention of giving up positions without a fight.
It should be noted that earlier, Donald Trump made an unexpected statement regarding who will actually govern Venezuela after Maduro's ousting, as well as announcing new tough measures and a promise of a 'second wave' of attacks if necessary.
Currently, Venezuela is on the brink of political crisis. The situation may worsen due to tensions between the Venezuelan government and the US. Various players on the international stage are watching the developments, as the situation in the country affects stability in the region and geopolitical interests.
