Ukraine and Greece signed a bilateral security agreement in Brussels on October 17. This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on his Telegram channel.

"Today, we signed an Agreement on Security Cooperation with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Greece is ready to meet the most urgent defense needs of our state moving forward," — the president noted.

According to Zelensky, Greece will provide additional resources to speed up training for Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel for F-16 fighters.

As reported on the President's Office website, the agreement also includes:

  • Economic partnership
  • Cooperation in the field of security
  • Support for sanctions against Russia and holding it accountable
  • Interaction in the fields of culture, education, and art

Additionally, Greece commits to participating in Ukraine's reconstruction and supports future EU and NATO membership and the Peace Formula.

The President of Ukraine emphasized that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Greece has been providing Ukraine with material, technical, and training assistance.

"I am thankful to Greece for all the assistance, for all the opportunities to protect our country and its people!" — added Zelensky.

It is worth noting that on October 9, Ukraine and Croatia also signed an Agreement on Long-Term Support and Cooperation.

On July 11, U.S. President Joe Biden presented a new treaty for Ukraine, the Ukraine Compact, which brought together more than 20 countries that have signed bilateral security agreements with Kyiv.

Recall that Zelensky recounted the conversation with Trump: either NATO or nuclear weapons.
