The 'War' with Marshrutkas in Kyiv: Carriers May Be Prohibited from Operating in the Capital.

Inspection of passenger and freight carriers in Kyiv has ended
In Kyiv, a two-week enhanced inspection of passenger and freight carriers was conducted jointly with Ukrtransbezk. This was reported by Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, on Telegram.
According to him, inspections will now be carried out in a planned manner.
During the two weeks, specialists from Ukrtransbezk and the Patrol Police focused on the busiest highways of Kyiv, transfer hubs, bus stations, and metro stations.
During the inspections, inspectors conducted 548 truck inspections and 765 inspections of passenger transport from private carriers.
As a result of the inspections, 96 violations of freight transportation were identified, amounting to 1,223,830 hryvnias.
For passenger transport, there were 148 violations totaling 2,437,120 UAH. Relevant documents were made for each of them. The total fines during the inspection period amounted to 3,660,950 UAH.
Tkachenko emphasized that non-compliance with freight transportation regulations threatens road safety due to the increased risk of traffic accidents on the city's roads. Therefore, special attention is given to the traffic order of trucks in Kyiv.
Regarding passenger transportation, inspectors most often recorded the following violations:
- absence of permit documents for passenger transport drivers;
- non-compliance with work and rest schedules.
'It is disappointing that such violations are not isolated cases. Such systemic disregard for transportation rules has no place on our roads. Following the inspection, I will initiate an instruction to the Municipal Transport Service and the relevant deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration to check private carriers in Kyiv for compliance with proper technical condition of rolling stock. In case of systemic violations, the most severe penalties should be applied against such carriers. Aware offenders must be removed from work on city streets,' Tkachenko stated.
Let us remind you that on January 20, enhanced measures began in Kyiv regarding the inspection of passenger carriers. In four days, 430 carriers were inspected. As a result, inspectors issued 95 reports amounting to over 1,650,000 hryvnias.
Earlier, Tkachenko stated that the condition of marshrutkas and the behavior of drivers had repeatedly raised complaints among Kyiv residents. Inspection raids were implemented due to discouraging violation statistics for 2024. This forced the new head of the Kyiv City Military Administration to conduct inspections.
It was previously reported that in Poland, Ukrainian carriers are actively being fined.
