The war has destroyed over 2400 medical facilities in Ukraine: how assistance is provided.
According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has reported that due to the war, 2,481 facilities belonging to 800 medical institutions have been damaged or destroyed. Among them, 2,155 facilities sustained partial damage, and 326 were completely destroyed.
Affected Regions
The greatest losses of medical institutions have been observed in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. As of today, 667 facilities have been fully restored, 320 partially, and 50 institutions have been rebuilt but have suffered damage again.
Despite the destruction, medical activities continue in most damaged institutions. In particular, medical services are being provided at 1,491 facilities in full, another 187 are partially operational, and 228 have been temporarily relocated to other premises.
Access to Data Issues
Information about medical facilities in temporarily occupied territories remains limited due to difficulties in accessing data. Additionally, during the conflict, 278 ambulances were destroyed, 131 were damaged, and 80 were seized.
The Ministry of Health, together with partners, is actively working on restoring damaged institutions to ensure quality medical care for all citizens of Ukraine even during the war. This allows hospitals to resume their activities and provide patients with necessary services.
Despite the destruction, many medical facilities have already been restored or partially opened for patients. Regional health institutions have suffered the most; however, thanks to the efforts of medical personnel, it has been possible to provide medical care in these challenging conditions. It is important to continue restoration work and support medical staff to provide quality medical care to the population.
Currently, the Ministry of Health is actively responding to the situation and coordinating efforts to restore medical institutions as quickly as possible to return their activities to normal. This is crucial for ensuring healthcare in conditions where access to medical services becomes increasingly necessary for the population. Restoring medical institutions not only contributes to medical support but is also an important component for improving overall life in regions affected by hostilities.Read also
