Beijing's War Games: Taiwan Assessed China's Strategic Intentions.
China is escalating its military exercises, which could quickly turn into a full-scale attack, a senior Taiwan security official said. He assessed Beijing's intentions behind the military exercises near the island. Over the past five years, Taiwan has complained about China's almost daily military activity, including large-scale military exercises and patrols around the island.
Taiwan reported a record number of Chinese aircraft and naval vessels that approached the island. According to the Taiwan security official, these exercises pose a greater threat than any previous ones. China also launched two missiles during the exercises.
The Taiwanese official reported that their intelligence had detected China's exercises in advance and deployed assets at strategic points. The Taiwan Ministry of Defense announced provocative "joint combat readiness patrols" that China is conducting around the island. Taiwan's Defense Minister noted that China could conduct subsequent exercises at any time.
Taiwan's military incorporated an action plan into the Han Kuang military exercises to be ready for a real attack from China.
