Demanded 300 thousand dollars — SAP completed the investigation regarding an SBU employee.
The Ukrainian Security Service has completed the pre-trial investigation regarding the case of the head of the sector who demanded a bribe of 300 thousand dollars along with accomplices. The press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported this on Telegram.
Extortion of a bribe
The SAP prosecutor made a decision to complete the pre-trial investigation concerning the head of the sector of the Department of National Statehood Protection of the SBU and two other individuals. They demanded a bribe of 300 thousand dollars from the defendants in the case.
The suspects demanded money from one of the participants for the destruction of part of the case materials and threatened him with possible consequences in case of refusal. Law enforcement documented the receipt of 72 thousand dollars.
It is also worth noting that on July 21, the SBU conducted searches of NABU employees to neutralize Russian influence. In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine checked compliance with legislation on state secrets in the SAP.
The corruption scandal in the SBU has once again captured the spotlight. The head of the sector and his accomplices demanded a large bribe, but their actions were documented by law enforcement. Now the case has gone to court, where further fate of the suspects will be determined.Read also
