Compensation for Ukrainian Military Personnel and Families of the Fallen: Eligibility Explained.
Compensation for Military Personnel and Their Families
According to Novyny.live: Members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are entitled to compensation for unused annual leave. Additionally, a special one-time financial assistance payment is available for close relatives in the event of a service member's death. These measures are designed to support military personnel and their families during difficult circumstances.
Payments to the Family of a Deceased Service Member
If a service member dies in the line of duty, their family is entitled to a payment equivalent to 750 times the subsistence minimum. In cases of death due to illness or an accident during service, the payment is set at 500 times the subsistence minimum. These funds are intended to provide crucial support to relatives during a period of loss.
Yuriy Aivazian noted: 'The money can be paid to a spouse, parents, the legal guardian of minor children, or adult children.'
Furthermore, payment can be made to the person or persons designated by the service member in a personal instruction. This can include not only close relatives but also other individuals, if specified by the service member during their lifetime. Currently, a bill regarding payments to the adult children of service members who have gone missing in action awaits the signature of the President of Ukraine. This initiative underscores the importance of supporting the families of military personnel who risk their lives for national defense.
Providing compensation and assistance to the families of fallen soldiers is a critical step in supporting those who have lost loved ones in the conflict. These measures offer not only financial aid but also represent an acknowledgment of the sacrifice made by service members in defending the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The pending legislation concerning missing personnel further demonstrates the state's commitment to addressing all aspects of support for military personnel and their families during this challenging time. The subsistence minimum is a state-defined benchmark used for calculating various social benefits in Ukraine.
