Vodafone's Water Supply Restored: How Customers Can Claim Compensation.
According to The Sun: Vodafone customers who were affected by yesterday's major outage can claim compensation.
Many users are outraged, as the Internet and mobile network outages affected hundreds of thousands of people today.
PAVodafone was unavailable for tens of thousands of people due to network issues. An expert noted that customers can receive payments, but they need to contact Vodafone to do so.
Max Beckett, a telecommunications expert at Uswitch.com, commented:
“For loss of broadband access, if your line is provided by Openreach and it has not yet been fully restored after two working days, you are entitled to automatic compensation of £9.76 for each subsequent calendar day until it is repaired.”
“For mobile service outages, compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis; however, in severe cases, customers may be entitled to a credit to their account or a refund, so it is always worth reaching out.”
Vodafone's issues began the day before at 3 PM, when almost 140,000 outage reports were recorded on the monitoring website.
Users reported being unable to access the Internet at home and use mobile data.
Some complained that they could not reach Vodafone's call center or log into the My Vodafone app.
One user posted on social media:
“@VodafoneUK is it just me or have you disappeared from the planet? No broadband access, no website, no signal?”
Another added:
“Vodafone made me stop work at 2:40 PM without being able to contact anyone to report this.”
Vodafone released a statement apologizing for the outage and stated that the network is "fully restored."
The company explained the outages were due to a "non-malicious software error" from one of its partners.

“My broadband is still not working. Mobile service is working, but pages are loading slowly,”said one user on X.
Another user emphasized:
“My broadband is still not restored since 3 PM yesterday. Is anyone else having the same issue?”
“Still only emergency calls this morning. Come on, #vodafone, fix this issue. Luckily, I have Internet from another provider, so I can make calls over Wi-Fi.”
Are You Entitled to Compensation?
If you have been experiencing issues with your Internet or mobile service, you may be entitled to compensation.
It is always useful to check for eligibility for compensation if you believe the issue has significantly impacted you – especially if it has led to financial losses.
Broadband providers that have signed up for Ofcom's automatic compensation scheme typically offer £9.76 per day for faults that remain unaddressed after the first two days.
Additionally, they offer £25 for missed or canceled appointments with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as £5 for each calendar day of delay for new services.
Obtaining compensation is usually an automatic process.
Vodafone has a section on its website dedicated to filing complaints about their service.
There are steps outlined that you should follow before contacting customer support at 0333 3040 441.
Online chat or a form to fill out is also available.
If your issue remains unresolved for eight weeks, you can file a complaint with an independent alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme.
Vodafone has joined the ADR CISAS scheme.
Max adds:
“If you are experiencing ongoing connectivity issues, consider comparing offers in your area and finding a package that best fits your needs.”
Top Tips for Keeping Your Connection
Here are some tips from Ofcom to improve your Wi-Fi connection:
- Use a landline or Wi-Fi calling: Most people call over mobile networks, but you can get a more reliable connection by using a landline or enabling "Wi-Fi calling" in your settings.
- Move the router away from other devices: Keep the router away from cordless phones, baby monitors, TVs, and screens that may interfere with Wi-Fi. Place the router on a table or shelf instead of the floor.
- Reduce the load on the connection: The more devices connected to your Wi-Fi, the lower the speed. Turn off Wi-Fi on devices you are not using.
- Try a wired connection instead of wireless: Prefer Ethernet cable for connecting your computer to the router for better speed.
- Connect the router directly to the main phone socket: Avoid using phone extension cables that may interfere with speed.
- Check the speed of your broadband line: Use Ofcom's official test to check the speed. Run tests on different days to spot changes.
The situation regarding Vodafone's network outages leaves many customers unsettled. Despite the restoration of service, some users still face difficulties. It is important to know that there are compensation opportunities available, and consumers should not be silent if they encounter service issues. As Max Beckett pointed out, it is worth reaching out to the company, as this could help improve service for all users. Time will tell if Vodafone can resolve these issues and avoid a repeat of these situations in the future.
