Russia's Losses in the War with Ukraine Exceeded 220,000 Dead: New Investigation Data.
Russia's Losses in the War with Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: As of August 2025, according to 'Glavkom', the losses of the Russian Federation during the war with Ukraine have amounted to at least 220,000 dead servicemen aged 18 to 55 years. This is confirmed by a named list that includes 125,681 individuals. The list is based on open sources such as obituaries and news reports. Journalists note that this figure does not cover all the dead, as information about each death is not always publicly known.
Legal Proceedings and Officer Deaths
At the beginning of August 2025, about 50,000 claims were filed in courts to recognize servicemen as dead or missing. Typically, these claims are submitted by representatives of the Ministry of Defense, as it is necessary to exclude missing soldiers from personnel lists.
As of August 28, the media confirmed the death of over 5,500 officers of the Russian army and other security forces, including 12 Russian generals: three lieutenant generals, seven major generals, and two retired officers.
Recent Actions of the Opponent
Today marks the 1283rd day of the full-scale war in Ukraine. Over the past day, 191 combat engagements have been recorded. The opponent carried out three missile strikes and 70 air strikes, using 36 missiles and dropping 117 guided aerial bombs. There were 5,358 shellings, 102 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems, and 6,205 kamikaze drones were involved in the attacks.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of the morning of Friday, August 29, 2025, Ukrainian defenders have destroyed 850 invaders.
It was reported that the Defense Forces eliminated the brother of the scandalous State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov. Alexander Milonov was a volunteer in the reconnaissance unit of the 'third combined arms army of the LPR' and fought against Ukrainian defenders. He was wounded and taken to the hospital, where he later died from complications.
Contract Payments
It is also worth noting that for the second quarter of 2025, payments for entering into contracts with the Ministry of Defense of Russia were received by 37,900 individuals, which is 2.5 times less compared to the same period in 2024.
Thus, the study results indicate Russia's losses in the war with Ukraine at a level of at least 220,000 dead, although this is only partial information since not all cases of death have become known. Numerous lawsuits and officer deaths have also been noted, as well as recent actions by the opponent during the conflict. In addition, a decrease in payments for entering into contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense has been recorded compared to the previous period.
