Details of the Interview
The 26-year-old Begum, hailing from Bethnal Green in East London, left the UK in 2015 when she was just 15 years old to join terrorist groups.
Within 10 days, she became the wife of a Dutch Islamic convert with whom she had three children, all of whom tragically died in infancy.
In 2019, the UK government revoked her citizenship, making her stateless, and since then she has been unsuccessfully trying to return to her family.
After cautiously engaging with journalists, Begum suddenly left the room when she was asked simple questions, interrupting the scheduled interview.
Shamima has been the focus of media attention due to her attempts to return home. Reform leader Nigel Farage recently expressed his views on the possibility of her return to the country, especially since Donald Trump hinted that Britain should do so.
Living Conditions in the Camp
The al-Roj camp, where Begum is currently located, shelters women and children who were captured after the defeat of Islamists in 2019. The camp currently holds about 2000 individuals, of whom only seven to eight women are from the UK, including Begum.

While in the camp, Begum is trying to create a new image, although all her legal appeals against the citizenship revocation have been rejected.
She claims she was just a housewife, while others say she played a role in the 'morality police'.
This is just part of her complex story, which continues to spark discussions in society.
