Big discounts on airline tickets and packages from airlines

According to The Sun: Well-known airlines are offering attractive discounts on airline tickets and vacation packages this month as part of their September promotions. But how to ensure that you are really getting a good deal? And is the promotional period really the best time to book?

Sophie Svetochovski shares key tips on how to find truly advantageous offers, as experts have their own secrets.

Be flexible

According to Laura Lindsay, a travel trend expert at Skyscanner, prices for airline tickets depend on supply and demand.

She says: “Prices are always lower when there are more available seats. Demand during school holidays is much higher than in the off-season, so expect lower prices if you travel during quieter times.”

Try changing your departure date – even one day can significantly save you money.

Laura also advises considering a different airport, even if it is slightly farther from your destination.

She explains: “A great example is a flight from London to New York. There are many options here, and a little more flexibility can save you hundreds of pounds.”

Book at the right time

Chris Webber, head of travel destinations at TravelSupermarket, claims that timing is key to advantageous offers.

“In most cases, holiday prices decrease as the departure date approaches, reaching their lowest about six to nine weeks before travel,” he notes.

“However, this does not apply to all trips. Large business trips – those costing over £5000 – are cheapest if booked as early as possible.”

Airlines and options

If you are not a loyalty program member, it might be worth considering alternative carriers.

The choice among numerous airlines depends on your destination. Switching to a less popular flight may save money.

“Moreover, fares do not always have to be round trip,” Laura emphasizes.

“Look for the possibility to fly with one airline and return with another to save.”

Change your destination

If you are not limited to a specific route, you can save a good amount just by changing your destination.

Laura says: “You might see an offer for a popular place like Naples, but perhaps a better price can be found for a less-known city, like the underrated Bari in Puglia?”

Use tools

Comparison sites are your trusty helpers. Companies like TravelSupermarket and Skyscanner offer advantageous deals from many providers and airlines.

Additionally, Skyscanner has a “whole month” feature that highlights the best days to fly, as well as the ability to set “price alerts” for specific routes.

Can you trust the sale price?

Unfortunately, there is no simple answer. It is important to track destinations and carry out research before booking.

If you don’t fall into the risky category of travelers, booking several months in advance may be the best choice while still being able to take advantage of promotional offers from airlines.
