How not to overpay at Borough Market: tips from The Sun journalists.
According to The Sun: Every day, tourists wander through Borough Market with chocolate-covered strawberries, but while holding this popular dessert, many miss the true gems.
Since visitors often struggle to find the best spots among many attractive and usually crowded stalls, the market team shares their recommendations for where to look during your next visit, as well as where to avoid.

Travel deputy editor Kara Godfrey noted:
“If you want to try some of the best dishes in Borough Market without a big budget – check out Too Good to Go. You’ll find everything from Bread Ahead to cheese shops.”
She also said:
“My favorite eating spot is El Pastor – one of two restaurants (the other at Kings Cross) where tacos are large and horchata is delicious.”
Kara confessed:
“Although prices at All That Falafel have gone up, this food truck still offers a tasty meal that will fill you for the whole day. The wrap costs about £6.”
She also added:
“If you fancy something fancy, I can always find Swift. Although it's small, the team of bartenders is always willing to make anything you want.”
Choose Wisely
Kara had a negative experience with high prices at a sports bar nearby. She explained:
“Right by London Bridge is Redwood. You might think it’s the best spot for drinks after work or before heading out, but I paid £18 for a glass of Malbec, which is just unreal even for London.”
Avoid the Ice Cream
Travel assistant editor Sophie Swietochowski tried a new trend of chocolate ice cream from Dubai and was disappointed. She said:
“This dessert consists of a combination of pistachio cream mixed with chopped phyllo, topped with silky chocolate coating – no wonder the Dubai chocolate bar has gained popularity.”
Sophie added:
“I ordered chocolate from Dubai, but I was handed a rather bare jelly look.”

She also said:
“Where’s my pistachio sauce? Where’s the spray I saw on top? After spending a whopping £6.50, I realized this was a classic case of an Instagram trap.”
French Fare
Lisa Minot, head of Sun Travel, stated:
“My favorite spot is Boro Bistro.”
She added:
“I’ve been a loyal fan of this cozy bistro for over ten years. This nice independent French café has rarely changed over all these years.”
Lisa continued:
“In summer, its large courtyard with alfresco tables is a great place to enjoy the sun, and in winter, there are heaters and soft blankets to keep you warm.”
Meaty Delicacies
Another suggestion from Lisa is Une Normande a Londres. She noted:
“This stall has also been at the market for many years and provides meat delicacies for Boro Bistro. There’s a great selection of French cheeses, and knowledgeable staff are happy to help you put together a cheese board.”

Another Market
Veronika Loren, gardening editor and assistant editorial chief, said:
“The street food market on Tabard Street is a real hidden gem.”
She also added:
“Forget the chaos of Borough Market itself – here, there are usually about five or six stalls every day, and locals love it – that’s always a good sign.”
Veronika noted:
“There are usually enough tables and chairs to sit and eat, plus a nearby park for enjoying your food al fresco. Prices here are somewhat lower than at the neighbors.”
Stroll
Travel correspondent Alice Penwill revealed her favorite place:
“As a newcomer to the area, I was quite pleased when I found a cozy spot far from the bustling Borough Market.”
She noted:
“Just a ten-minute walk to Crucifix Lane, I stumbled upon Kin + Deum, where they serve delicious Thai dishes like classic pad thai, pineapple rice, peanut satay, and of course, katsu curry.”
Alice concluded that this place offers pleasant prices and generous portions:
“And on top of that, you can enjoy a cup of refreshing lemongrass tea at the end.”
