Fireworks in London: What to Expect for the New Year.
New Year Fireworks in London: What You Need to Know
According to The Sun: Everyone has heard about the New Year’s fireworks in London – it's a true show accompanied by hits, but it's impossible to convey this atmosphere through a screen. This week, thousands of people are once again flocking to the Mayor of London’s website, trying to get tickets for the country’s biggest New Year event.
Tickets for the New Year fireworks in London have become paid – entry was free until 2014. In 2022, I paid £15, and in 2023, the price jumped to £20. For the 2025/2026 show, a category A ticket now costs £35, while category B tickets are now £20. For those arriving from other cities, prices range from £40 to £55.
Getting tickets is a real challenge. This year, sales start at 12:00 on October 17, so be prepared.
In 2022, my friends and I had to use both phones and laptops to buy tickets, but unfortunately, we couldn’t get seats in our desired area, which happened again the following year. The main advice? Be ready.
- Create a group chat – you can buy up to four tickets per person, so you’ll need a few people online on Friday.
- Don’t refresh the page – otherwise, you’ll lose your place in line.
Gates usually open at 20:00, and all attendees must be in their areas by 10:30 PM. My friends and I arrived after 20:15, and there were no queues, which allowed us to take a good spot to watch the 12-minute show.
ReutersMusic and atmosphere also add emotions, so it’s really worth £15. But unfortunately, next year, I can’t say the same. We arrived at 20:00 and encountered kilometer-long queues, with no organization – after two hours, we had moved only 10 meters.
I have been to the fireworks twice – one time it was a great event, while another time it was full of queues (in the photo)

In 2023, 20,000 ticket holders could not get into the show, and in 2024, that number rose to 30,000. However, there are a few tips on how to prepare for this event:
- Choose category A zones – they provide the best views of the fireworks, while category B is often blocked by skyscrapers.
- Arrive at 20:00, considering that other New Year events also draw people to the subway.
And then, just before midnight, we witnessed chaos, so I didn’t see the show.

Don’t worry if you don’t bring a chair – you’ll be dancing in anticipation. If you want to save money, bring beer in cans – it’s a light and compact option.
After the fireworks, don’t rush to leave – the atmosphere is wonderful, and following the crowd is the least stressful way to get home or to the next party.
The ticket price is high, but the fireworks are worth seeing. If you want a guaranteed good viewing point, consider a cruise on the Thames or a rooftop party. If you’re looking for something interesting in London before New Year, visit the first live experience of Traitors or the new immersive Titanic attraction.

So, if you plan to attend the fireworks this year, be ready to purchase tickets.
