Trump warns of possible changes to the venues for the 2026 World Cup

However, Trump warned that he could relocate games from cities that he deems 'at least somewhat dangerous.'
The US President has had conflicts with the mayors of several cities that will be hosts due to his policies on illegal immigration. He also deployed the National Guard to combat crime in some Democrat-run cities.
Considering that tourists from around the world will travel to the US, Trump wants to ensure that the host cities are 'very safe.'
When asked about the possibility of holding games in cities like Seattle and San Francisco that do not 'work with his administration,' Trump responded:
„That’s an interesting question. But we have to ensure they are safe. They are run by radical left lunatics who don’t know what they’re doing.”
If Trump takes action, he could turn to his acquaintance, FIFA President Gianni Infantino. They attended a match for the World Cup trophy when Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the final, as FIFA has all contracts with the host cities.

The federal government has already allocated £470 million to ensure safety during the tournament.
Trump emphasizes that he will do everything to make the tournament safe for everyone:
„As you probably know, we (National Guard) are going to Memphis and other cities. Very soon we will go to Chicago. That will be safe for the World Cup. If I believe it’s dangerous, we will move it to another city, absolutely. That’s really a very valid question. If I believe it’s dangerous, we will move it from that city.”
Therefore, the issue of safety ahead of the 2026 World Cup remains on the agenda. Trump's reaction to the situation in the cities could have significant implications for the placement of games and the overall impression of the tournament. It is important that everyone involved, from players to fans, feels safe and comfortable during this international event.
