This unusual hotel is located in the wine region of Kakheti in Georgia, among the majestic Caucasus mountains. Guests can spend the night in rooms shaped like traditional Georgian wine containers known as qvevri.
PRThe Qvevrebi Hotel has 20 "cottages" designed in the style of traditional wine containers. For the last 8000 years, these clay vessels, called qvevri, have been used for storing, fermenting, and aging wine.
The Qvevrebi Hotel is located in the vineyards of Telavi, with a total of 20 rooms in the shape of qvevris, which are also called cottages, situated on the slopes of the village of Shalauri.
Each cottage is named after a different grape variety and features a king-size bed and a bathroom. The cottage also has a private balcony with stunning views of the vineyards or the surrounding mountains.
Restaurant and Entertainment
In the main building, there is a restaurant 'Amphora', offering dishes of European and traditional Georgian cuisine. For example, guests can order beef liver with Georgian spices, baked with onions and pomegranates, at around £6.33. Or try a plate of aged cheeses with honey and dried fruits for £10.19.
The menu also allows for adding a bottle of local wine for just £11.84.
In the main building, there is a relaxation area with billiards, foosball, table tennis, and various board games.
After relaxing in the bar, guests can step out into the outdoor area with a pool. There is a bar, a large heated pool, a hot tub, and numerous sun loungers under umbrellas.
Guests can also participate in a series of masterclasses, including wine tastings and grape crushing in the traditional Satsnakheli vessel used in winemaking.
The price for a night in a cottage starts at £68.84. The hotel is located just a few kilometers from Telavi, the main town of the Kakheti region.
Historical Sights of Telavi
In Telavi, travelers can find numerous historical landmarks, museums, and a local market. Telavi is one of the oldest cities in Georgia, most of whose buildings were erected in the 17th century and reconstructed in 2018.
PRAmong the oldest buildings in the city is Batonis Tsikhe, a fortress built for the King of Kakheti in the 17th century. This fortress is part of a larger complex with chapels, baths, and palaces, protected by thick stone walls and towers.
Don't forget to visit the Telavi market, where fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, and Churchkhela - a Georgian sweet made by dipping threads of nuts into a mixture of grape juice and flour - are sold.
Travelers can also head to the Caucasus Mountains, which run between Europe and Asia.
