New requirements for the salaries of military personnel in Ukraine
Starting from January 1, 2026, new salary requirements will be introduced in Ukraine for employees liable for military service. Employers will be obliged to pay no less than 20 thousand hryvnias per month, and from the beginning of 2027, this amount will increase to 21.6 thousand hryvnias. As reported by TSN, these changes are related to the draft state budget for 2026, which plans to increase the minimum wage to 8,647 hryvnias. At critically important enterprises, the salaries of employees liable for military service must be at least 2.5 times the minimum wage.“Thus, starting in January, the necessary accruals for preserving the deferment from mobilization will amount to 21,617 hryvnias per month (8,647 x 2.5 = 21,617.5)”, - explained the military service.Lawyer Marina Bekalo noted that the increase in requirements is due to the adoption of the state budget. According to the rules of reservation, the salary of military personnel cannot be less than the minimum wage multiplied by a coefficient of 2.5. Companies that do not comply with these requirements risk losing their right to reservation, and their employees may be mobilized. The Armed Forces of Ukraine summarized the work of the Territorial Recruitment Centers using body cameras. The increase in requirements for the salaries of military personnel indicates the growing importance of military service in Ukraine and the need to maintain a proper level of support for those liable for mobilization. This may affect the labor market, in particular, forcing employers to reconsider their approaches to wages and working conditions.
