Romania is introducing new rules for drivers traveling in their own cars. Now, without a vehicle technical inspection certificate, border officials may deny entry even if the driver has all other necessary documents.

Vehicle Technical Inspection Certificate

The technical inspection certificate is an official document that confirms that the vehicle is safe, functional, and meets safety and environmental requirements. To obtain it, you must undergo a technical inspection at a specialized service center.

In addition to the technical inspection certificate, Ukrainian drivers also need a biometric passport or a visa passport, an international driving permit, a vehicle registration document, a 'Green Card', and a power of attorney, if necessary, to enter Romania.

Items Prohibited for Import

At the Romanian border, it is prohibited to import drugs, weapons, unpackaged food, large amounts of cash, and excessive quantities of alcohol or cigarettes. If any of these items are found, you may be denied entry.
