Europe prepares 15-30 thousand peacekeepers for Ukraine: who and under what conditions.
According to ТСН: In various European capitals, different figures are mentioned regarding the possible contingent of Western peacekeepers in Ukraine. These figures range from 15 to 20 thousand people, although some experts hope for about 30 thousand.
Currently, official military plans have not been made public. The bulk of the forces should be provided by France and the United Kingdom, responsible for the ground and air components of the operation. Turkey has also stated that it will ensure the security of transport routes in the Black Sea.
Placement of peacekeepers
However, it remains unclear how the potential forces of the 'coalition of the willing' will approach the front line. Most European officials believe that peacekeepers will be deployed in western Ukraine to support and train Ukrainian troops.
According to anonymous sources from 'Radio Free Europe', American troops may be present 'on the ground' in a non-combat role, monitoring compliance with the ceasefire.
Negotiations in Paris
On January 6, a discussion is scheduled at the Paris summit regarding coordination of support for Kyiv with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During the negotiations, the issues of rules of engagement, security guarantees from the USA, and territorial disputes, including regarding Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, will also be addressed.
It should be noted that the WELT publication, citing diplomatic sources in Brussels, claims that Europe is ready to send troops to Ukraine. The total number may amount to 15 thousand people. France and the United Kingdom are ready to participate in monitoring the ceasefire even without a mandate from the UN or the EU if invited by Ukraine.
Thus, the situation regarding the possible deployment of Western peacekeepers in Ukraine leaves many questions. It is expected that the planned negotiations in Paris could determine the next steps of international support for Ukraine and the regulation of the conflict in the east of the country. In wartime, support from allies is as crucial as state policy, as it can significantly influence stability in the region.
