Every day at 9 a.m. Ukrainians remember all those who died in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Today we remember Andrii Chumak.

On February 13, 2025, Andrii Chumak's life ended in a capital hospital after a two-week battle with death following a severe injury at the front. This was reported by the Obukhiv City Council.

Andrii Chumak was born on June 13, 1979, in Kyiv. He spent his childhood and youth in the capital. He graduated from school No. 235. The village of Krasne Pershe became a second homeland for Andrii, as his family lived there. His grandmother and grandfather, as well as his parents, were buried there.

Andrii worked as a car mechanic throughout his life. It was both his passion and source of income. Later, he opened his own automotive company.

He was active and cheerful, always the center of attention. He never refused to help others. He loved his family and his native land dearly. He was passionate about history, read books, and participated in sports. He was a truly worthy, decent, and honest man, remembered by his loved ones.

When the war entered the lives of Ukrainians, he was one of the first to join the territorial defense. He served in the city of Vyshneve, protecting the suburbs of Kyiv from the enemy. Andrii dreamed of joining the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, and that dream eventually came true.

In September 2024, he was mobilized to this brigade, with which he fought on the Kharkiv front. He received military awards.

He participated in combat missions in various territories. During one of these missions, he sustained serious injuries near the settlement of Novoehorivka in the Svatove district of Luhansk region and was transported to a capital hospital.

For two weeks, Andrii was in intensive care. He woke up, joked, although he could not speak, he supported his wife and brother with his expressions. However, the severe injury left him with no chance for survival. Andrii passed away on February 13, 2025.

'Ukraine lost a brave warrior, motivated to fight against the insidious enemy. Andrii left his mark in the history of the Ukrainian people, defending its independence,' stated the Obukhiv City Council.

Farewell to Andrii Chumak took place on February 18 in the village of Krasne Pershe.

He is survived by his wife Viktoriia, brother Serhii, and nephew Dmytro, whom Andrii loved like his own son.

'Hromadske' joins in silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died fighting for their homeland. We remember those who fell at the hands of Russian invaders and light a candle of remembrance, honoring the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: military personnel, civilians, and children, all who lost their lives in the struggle against Russian occupiers and as a result of the attack of hostile troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
