Experience, identification, and allowances: pensioners face changes in August

Ukrainians have been told what changes pensioners are expecting in August.

According to the "Hvylya" website, journalist Serhiy Korobkin spoke about this in his new video on the YouTube channel "Na pensii".

It is noted that in September, pensioners will face a number of legislative changes. These changes will concern the new law on foreign work experience and receiving additional payments in the last month of summer.

The Law on Foreign Work Experience

The new law No. 3674, which came into force at the end of June, addresses the issue of calculating the work experience of people who worked abroad.

The main innovation of the law is the consideration of foreign work experience when assigning pensions in Ukraine, even if a pension agreement with the respective country is not signed. However, this foreign work experience will not be considered when calculating the pension itself.

It is currently unknown what documents will be needed for this process, as additional procedures need to be adopted for the law.

Regular Identification

The law also defines mandatory annual identification for pensioners temporarily residing abroad until the end of the year (December 31). This requirement applies to everyone, even if they are not internally displaced persons (IDPs).

For persons with IDP status obtained before the invasion (February 24, 2022) who receive pensions through Oschadbank, a new procedure has been introduced. They must pass identification every six months. The deadline for the last identification has been extended to September 30, 2024.

If physical identification is carried out every 6 months, it is recommended for pensioners to undergo the procedure if they last identified in January 2024, as the deadline is approaching.

Budget Declaration for 2025-2027

The declaration also indicates that the minimum living wage and minimum wage are not planned to be increased over the next three years. This may lead to the freezing of pension payments and their supplements.

However, the document provides that pensions will be indexed from March 1 over the next three years. There are no details yet about the fair pension reform and its funding.

Statistics from the Pension Fund

As of July 1, the average pension in Ukraine is 5,816.62 hryvnias. The growth compared to last year was 9.5%. In July 2023, the average pension was 5,311 hryvnias, which means an increase of 505 hryvnias.

We remind you that some pensioners received an increase in pensions to 6,000 hryvnias.
