According to inkorr.com: Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi shared his thoughts on the government program for the creation of Space Forces. He noted that this initiative is important, even though it is delayed. Zaluzhnyi emphasized that the modern dynamics of military conflicts and new threats require Ukraine to develop its own space technologies.

“Thus, the use of reconnaissance capabilities by the Space Forces will require regulatory consolidation of this function for both further funding and the creation of a corresponding management link at the strategic level within the structure of the Armed Forces,” he emphasized.

He also noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine currently do not have the necessary capabilities for strategic reconnaissance, which complicates the planning of strikes and controlling their results. Therefore, for the successful operation of the Space Forces, changes in the management structure of the Armed Forces are required.

The Necessity of Developing Space Technologies

Zaluzhnyi emphasized that for effective use of outer space, Ukraine should:

• create its own grouping of space devices and ground equipment;
• provide navigational, meteorological, and satellite support;
• develop a unified structure for managing space activities;
• actively cooperate with partners and private companies;
• develop international cooperation beyond traditional frameworks.

“Space is the key to operational superiority, but its effective use requires a systematic approach and broad international cooperation,” he added.

According to forecasts, by 2035, the space economy will become an important sector of development, supported by five key industries: logistics, defense, consumer goods, and digital communications.

The creation of Space Forces in Ukraine is extremely relevant given the risks and threats arising in modern military confrontations. Plans call for the formation of the appropriate structure by the end of 2025, in accordance with the government program currently being considered by the Verkhovna Rada.

Thus, the news emphasizes the importance of developing space technologies and creating Space Forces in Ukraine. This highlights the need for legal consolidation of their role in reconnaissance and strike planning.
