Today, August 31, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to discuss the protection of the EU's eastern border and security guarantees for Ukraine. This is reported by FREEДOM, citing Polish Radio.
Visit Plan
The visit will take place at one of the branches of the Polish Border Guard. After this, Tusk and von der Leyen plan to visit the border area between Poland and Belarus, where elements of the 'Eastern Shield' are located, as well as inspect the modernized barrier at the border.
Purpose of the Visit
It should be noted that the President of the European Commission is on a tour of the eastern flank countries of the EU. As part of this tour, she will also visit the Baltic states, Finland, Bulgaria, and Romania. The main aim is to strengthen solidarity and defense capabilities.
This visit is significant in the context of enhancing security in the region. Strengthening the EU's borders and discussing security measures for Ukraine are key factors in ensuring stability in Eastern Europe, particularly in light of current geopolitical challenges.
