Odesa's Electric Transport Return Pushed to Spring After Fresh Infrastructure Damage.
The State of Electric Transport in Odesa
According to Novyny.live: Odesa's tram and trolleybus services face further delays due to new damage to the city's energy infrastructure. These electric vehicles have been out of service since December 13, 2025, following a major strike on the regional power grid. Officials now anticipate that services will not resume before spring of next year.
First Deputy Mayor of Odesa, Oleksandr Filatov, stated that the previously targeted post-February 20th restart date is no longer viable. A return to normal electric transport operations is only possible once the power system stabilizes. The fare for trams and trolleybuses has remained unchanged since December 1, 2024.
If shelling continues—and there is currently no reason to believe it has ended—then the situation will be adjusted based on the damage sustained by the energy infrastructure.

Impact on Local Residents
The postponement of Odesa's electric transport relaunch stems not only from direct infrastructure damage but also from the broader instability of the energy system caused by ongoing military actions. Local residents and municipal services are awaiting the restoration of service, which, depending on the situation, could be delayed indefinitely.
Given the persistent risks associated with shelling, it is crucial for local authorities to maintain transparency and promptly inform the public of any changes to transport schedules. This disruption is part of the wider challenges facing Ukraine's urban centers during the ongoing conflict.
