Boy nearly died from electric shock in bed: how a charger led to this.
Dangerous incident with a charger
According to ТСН: Eight-year-old Lorenzo Lopez from the USA nearly died from an electric shock received from a phone charger that was nearby in bed. This happened when the boy rolled over in his sleep, and a metal necklace caught the gap between the extension cord and the charger, causing a sharp electric discharge.
The boy's mother found out that Lorenzo could not call for help as the current kept hitting him. His life was saved because he managed to remove the necklace, which was acting as a conductor. Doctors emphasized that if the boy hadn’t done that, the consequences could have been fatal.
"It was just scary. I hardly thought I would die," the boy said.
After the incident, Lorenzo underwent skin graft surgery, with doctors taking donor skin patches from his head, legs, and feet. The boy remains in the hospital, where he is undergoing recovery. His mother reported that he is very tired and feels pain, but is gradually recovering.
Kourtney Pendleton, Lorenzo's mother, reached out to other parents with an important warning: do not let children sleep with gadgets and charging cords in bed. She stressed that the tragic incident happened in literally a few seconds and could have led to death.
Similar tragedies occur in the USA. Previously, 38-year-old Ann-Marie O'Gorman died from electric shock while holding a phone in the bath during charging. During the autopsy, characteristic burns were found on her chest and arm.
As a reminder, recently, images were released in the USA capturing the last moments of life of two-year-old Parker Scholtus, a girl who died from heat in a overheated car in Arizona.
This case with Lorenzo serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers associated with the use of electronic devices in everyday life, especially for children. Parents should be especially attentive and careful, as sometimes the most ordinary things can pose a serious threat.
