Pay Raise for Ukrainian Educators
According to Novyny.live: The Ukrainian government has approved a significant salary increase for teachers, to be implemented in 2026. This move aims to improve the financial standing of educators and enhance the prestige of the teaching profession in the country. The increase will be implemented in two stages: a 30% raise effective January 1, 2026, followed by an additional 20% supplement starting September 1, 2026.
New Salary Structure and Minimums
From January 1, 2026, official salaries will be based on a new base tariff rate of 3,470 UAH under the Unified Tariff Schedule (UTS). The subsequent adjustments will result in the following minimum monthly salaries for teachers as of September 1, 2026:
- For teaching staff without a category: from 10,104 to 10,937 UAH;
- For the second category: 11,769 UAH;
- For the first category: 12,603 UAH;
- For the highest category: 13,435 UAH.
This salary reform is part of the State Budget for 2026, which was supported by Ukraine's Members of Parliament. According to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1749 dated December 26, 2025, teachers will also receive a separate 40% supplement. An additional monthly allowance of 2,000 UAH is stipulated for work in challenging conditions. These measures are designed to provide financial support to teachers and improve their working environment. This policy comes as Ukraine seeks to stabilize and strengthen its public sector amidst broader national challenges.
The salary increase for educators is a crucial step toward improving teachers' working conditions in Ukraine, which may help address staffing shortages in the education sector.
