Zelensky announced new sanctions against Russia: what is known about the restrictions.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced new sanctions against Russia. The Russian economy is feeling the restrictions, and enemy enterprises are shutting down. Zelensky himself reported this in his evening video address on August 8.
“Russia does not take into account the losses of people. They block all information about their losses, but they cannot block objective reality. What the Russian economy is experiencing, how Russian enterprises are ceasing operations, how Russian logistics is suffering losses. Sanctions can work exactly as we need them to. I want to thank everyone in the world today who helps us, who assists in ending the war”, said the president.
Zelensky stated that he agreed on several sanction packages and relevant decisions will be made soon. He emphasized active negotiations with partners to achieve a unified position for real peace for Ukraine.
“There is already a lot of support, and it is support under new conditions, where the deadline for Russia to cease fire has been announced. We see that the Russians are not paying attention to this - at least for now they are not. Today there were again killings, Russian shelling. More than a hundred strike drones were used overnight against Ukraine, and throughout the day there were air bomb strikes, intense assaults on the front, and again air raid alerts in our cities and communities.”, emphasized Zelensky.
On August 4, the president also signed two decrees on the imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The first package concerns 62 individuals and companies involved in the export of stolen grain from temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Recently, the White House also announced sanctions against Russia, which are set to take effect on Friday, August 8.
