U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to hold face-to-face peace talks. According to him, only a personal meeting between the two sides could be the first step towards ending the war. The American leader suggested that following such negotiations a large conference involving three parties led by the U.S. should take place.

Zelensky publicly supported the idea of a peaceful summit, emphasizing that Kyiv is ready for diplomatic solutions. However, he explained to Trump that any territorial exchanges are an extremely complicated process. It involves not only legal obstacles in the form of constitutional prohibitions but also a human dimension, as it concerns the resettlement of hundreds of thousands of people.

Despite this, Zelensky suggested that theoretically, a 'proportional exchange' of territories could be considered. At the same time, European leaders urged Kyiv not to concede any strategically important cities, viewing this as a dangerous precedent.

Summary: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky does not dismiss the idea of territorial compromises, although he notes that this process is complicated by constitutional restrictions and social issues. Donald Trump called for a direct meeting between Zelensky and Putin as the first step towards resolving the conflict.
