The presidents of Ukraine and France met after the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. According to the Office of the President, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Emmanuel Macron for his support and military assistance. France has provided defense support amounting to 6 billion euros during the Russian invasion.

During the meeting, they discussed opportunities to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities from France and positions on implementing a fair and lasting peace. Special attention was given to security cooperation and possible formats of security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe. Ukraine also hopes for support from France and personally from Emmanuel Macron in the negotiation process for joining the EU.
