Before the meeting with Donald Trump, which will take place today, August 18, Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with the leaders of Finland, Great Britain, Italy, the European Commission, and the NATO Secretary General. The President of Ukraine is grateful to the partners working towards achieving a reliable and dignified peace.

This was reported by the head of state on his Telegram channel.

What goal Zelensky sets for himself

The President stated that Ukraine is ready for a real ceasefire and the establishment of a new security architecture. The main goal for now is reliable and lasting peace for both Ukraine and all of Europe.

“Do not expect Putin to refuse aggression and new expansionist attempts on his own, so pressure must work, and it must be a joint pressure: the USA and Europe, everyone in the world who respects the right to live and the international order,” the head of state emphasized.

We remind you that preparations are being made in Washington for the meeting between Trump and Zelensky. Security measures are being enhanced near the White House.

We also reported that Volodymyr Zelensky met with the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Kurt Volker. The parties discussed the situation on the battlefield and diplomatic opportunities.

During the preparations for the meeting with President Trump, Zelensky held a series of meetings with key European and NATO leaders, aimed at establishing peace and security in the region, particularly by increasing joint pressure on Putin to step back from aggressive actions.
