Zelensky signed a law on school safety: what will change.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed the Law on the introduction of safety measures in schools. Information about this was published on the official page of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Telegram.
Main innovations of the law
According to inkorr.com: Clear rules for the presence of individuals on school grounds will now be established in educational institutions. A procedure for admission and control over compliance with these norms is planned to be created, and each school must clearly define the boundaries of its territory.
Security systems
Emergency police alert systems, so-called 'panic buttons', will be installed on school grounds. Outsiders, as well as people in a state of intoxication or with dangerous items, will not be allowed into educational institutions.
Requirements for security guards
The criteria for selecting school security guards are also being changed. For example, individuals with convictions for violence or who have been involved in bullying will not be able to work as guards. Specific admission rules will be developed by the school administrations in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
This law is an important step towards creating a safe environment for students and educational staff in Ukrainian schools.
The introduction of new safety measures in schools is a response to the growing needs for ensuring the safety of children and teachers. These changes can significantly increase the level of protection in educational institutions, which is especially important in the context of modern challenges. The law will serve as a basis for further initiatives in the field of education safety in Ukraine.
