Zelenskyy Visits German-Ukrainian Enterprise

According to Novyny.live: On February 13, 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited a German-Ukrainian enterprise to accept the first jointly manufactured combat drone, marking a significant step in Ukraine's defense technology development. This visit underscores Ukraine's urgent push to bolster its domestic defense industry amidst ongoing conflict. Zelenskyy noted that the AI-equipped drone is designed for multiple roles, including strike missions, reconnaissance, and protecting Ukrainian soldiers.

During the tour, the Ukrainian president shared his impressions:

“We saw the production line and the drone's first flight. This is modern Ukrainian technology, battle-tested. It will strike targets, conduct reconnaissance, and protect our soldiers. And this year alone, 10,000 drones produced here will be delivered to Ukraine to strengthen our troops.”

Furthermore, plans are in place to open ten more joint ventures for Ukrainian drone production by the end of the year, highlighting active cooperation between Ukraine and Germany in the defense sector. Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude for German support:

“I thank Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the German government, personally Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, and the German people. Ukraine is always ready to share the experience we have gained while defending lives.”

The Significance of International Cooperation

The visit coincided with a security conference attended by Zelenskyy, running from February 13 to 15, which emphasizes the critical role of international collaboration in security and defense. Such partnerships are vital for Ukraine as it seeks to modernize its military capabilities.

President Zelenskyy's visit underscores the strategic importance of advancing defense technologies in Ukraine, particularly under current challenges. The collaboration with Germany symbolizes crucial international backing, which can substantially enhance the country's defensive capacity. Domestic drone production not only strengthens Ukrainian forces but also fosters the development of local industry and technology, a key aspect of the nation's economic resilience and recovery.
