President Volodymyr Zelensky posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to journalist and paramedic of the volunteer battalion 'Hospitallers' Iryna Tsybukh.
Yesterday, on May 29, 2024, during a rotation in the Kharkiv direction, 25-year-old journalist and paramedic of the volunteer battalion 'Hospitallers' Iryna Tsybukh was killed.
Since 2015, Iryna Tsybukh worked as a military paramedic in Donbas and was part of the volunteer battalion 'Hospitallers'. This battalion is engaged in medical evacuation of military personnel in dangerous areas on the front lines.
Before joining the battalion, Iryna Tsybukh worked on the reform of Public Broadcasting and filmed documentaries as a director. In February 2022, she was supposed to present her documentary about inclusive children in Sievierodonetsk, but due to the war, this project was halted. She decided to support her country on the front lines and became a volunteer.
Iryna Tsybukh received national recognition from the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who awarded her the Order of Merit on November 16, 2023, on the Day of Television, Radio and Communication. She also received an award from the Ukrainian Women's Congress, which was accepted by her mother.
