Zelenskyy Honors Troops on First-Ever Unmanned Systems Day: Key Details.
Ukraine Marks Its First Unmanned Systems Day
According to UATV: On June 11, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy extended his greetings to military personnel in recognition of the newly established Unmanned Systems Day. Celebrated for the first time this year, June 11 will now serve as an annual occasion to express gratitude to the warriors of the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF). In his address, the president stated:
“Today we mark the inaugural Unmanned Systems Day, and from now on, June 11 will be a yearly day of appreciation for our USF soldiers.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Zelenskyy emphasized that modern warfare is unimaginable without drones, highlighting the critical role of technology in military operations. Notably, since June 5, the Unmanned Systems Forces have carried out a strike on a temporary deployment site of Russia’s 90th Separate Engineer-Sapper Regiment, part of the 51st Army of the Russian Federation.
According to reports, Russia has suffered over 30,000 casualties—killed and wounded—per month. These figures underscore the severe impact of ongoing hostilities and the pivotal role unmanned technologies play in contemporary conflicts.
The Strategic Role of Drones
The establishment of Unmanned Systems Day underscores the strategic importance of drones in military operations, a reality that has become especially pronounced in modern warfare. Given the rapid advancement of unmanned aerial vehicle technology, this initiative is also expected to boost troop morale and strengthen public backing for their efforts. Amid active combat in eastern Ukraine, the focus on unmanned systems highlights their decisive contribution to the nation’s defense capabilities.
