Zelensky on the situation in Kharkiv region: the situation is complicated, but Kupiansk is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to ТСН: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the situation at the front in the Kharkiv region. He noted that the situation in the region is complicated due to the pressure from Russian forces.
“The Russians are getting more and more, it is becoming harder and harder,” he added.
Zelensky also shared his impressions after visiting Kupiansk, noting that despite its proximity to the front line, the city is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The President emphasized that the Russians are destroying village after village, trying to advance, however, Ukraine does not plan to sacrifice its people.
“We will do everything to preserve the lives of our soldiers because we must first and foremost have a fighting force. This does not mean that we are ready to surrender,” Zelensky stressed.
He also highlighted issues with armaments, pointing to a serious shortage of certain types of missiles, particularly for air defense systems, as well as logistical and energy difficulties. However, the president emphasized that “this is not an accusation against our partners.”
The Kremlin is trying to downplay the significance of the counterattack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Kupiansk, spreading statements about supposedly full control over the city. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), about 200 Russian occupiers remain in Kupiansk itself, and their logistical support is complicated by the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian state media and bloggers are trying to create a false impression of an inevitable breakthrough, while Ukrainian forces continue to hold positions and make local advances in the north, east, and center of the city.
Kremlin’s information attacks are part of a broader campaign of pressure on Ukraine and its Western partners, however, the real situation indicates active resistance and progress of Ukrainian forces.
