Zelenskyy Vows Ukraine Will Never Accept Territorial Losses.
Statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
According to UATV: During a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on February 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that Ukraine will never agree to any resolution that involves the loss of its territorial sovereignty. Zelenskyy stressed the critical importance of preserving all Ukrainian lands, regardless of their current status as temporarily occupied territories. This firm stance comes as Ukraine continues to defend its internationally recognized borders against a full-scale invasion.
The President asserted that these territories remain the property of Ukraine, irrespective of the present circumstances.
"First, as Donald Tusk said, not everyone will be ready to recognize the occupation of territories,"he noted, highlighting the complexities of achieving full international recognition of the occupation. Zelenskyy added:
"Therefore, our territories are ours, despite the fact that the temporary status of some of them remains—temporarily occupied."These remarks reinforce Ukraine's unwavering position on maintaining its territorial integrity.
The Significance of Ukraine's Position
Amidst Russia's ongoing aggression, the stance articulated by President Zelenskyy is crucial for both domestic morale and international perceptions of the conflict. Upholding Ukraine's territorial integrity and rejecting any compromises on its sovereignty are fundamental principles that underpin its diplomatic efforts and quest for continued global support.
These expressed views also demonstrate that Ukraine remains actively engaged in seeking allies and building partnerships on the world stage in its struggle to reclaim its sovereign rights and lands.
