'Coalition of the Willing' Holds Meeting in Kyiv

According to UATV: Marking the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, a meeting of the 'coalition of the willing' was held in Kyiv on February 24, 2024. The gathering included numerous high-level officials, such as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the critical importance of continued support from partners at this pivotal moment.

Zelenskyy also announced the receipt of a new batch of air defense missiles, including Patriot systems. This aid is vital for meeting Ukraine's defense needs amid the ongoing aggression.

“The first priority of this 'steel hedgehog' is to help address Ukraine's urgent defense needs,” noted Ursula von der Leyen.

Potential Negotiations and European Parliament Support

Furthermore, Zelenskyy announced a potential U.S.-Ukraine-Russia format meeting that could take place within the next 7-10 days. This initiative reflects Ukraine's efforts to engage international partners in a negotiation process.

“We need Europe at the negotiations. We are doing everything to involve Europeans in this process as closely as possible,” Zelenskyy added.

Against this backdrop, the European Parliament adopted a resolution concerning the four years of Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine. The resolution underscores the necessity for continued European support for Ukraine. Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa called on Hungary to cooperate, stating it had violated the principle of fair collaboration.

The 'coalition of the willing' meeting highlights the importance of international support for Ukraine during the protracted conflict and the efforts of participating states to ensure regional stability. This summit was a significant event demonstrating the unity of the international community in backing Ukraine. The confirmation of military aid and support from European leaders points to a sustained effort in countering the aggression. The announced possibility of talks involving the U.S. and Russia could become a crucial step in seeking a peaceful resolution to the four-year-long conflict.
