Zelensky spoke with Trump for the second time in two days: about air defense and Tomahawks

According to inkorr.com: President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that on Sunday he spoke on the phone with Donald Trump for the second time in a few days

"I had a phone conversation with Donald Trump"
. The main topic of the call was strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, particularly through air defense systems. This information was
"reported"
by the president himself during the evening address.

Main areas of cooperation

According to Zelensky, Kyiv and Washington are

"working in detail"
on expanding support for the Ukrainian military. The key points of cooperation include:
  • the transfer of new air defense systems, mainly Patriot systems;
  • the possibility of acquiring long-range missiles, particularly Tomahawks;
  • expanding cooperation in energy, including gas supplies.

The president noted that Moscow is feeling pressure and is worried about the potential strengthening of Ukrainian capabilities. He emphasized:

"We see that the Russian Federation is afraid that the Americans might give us 'Tomahawks'. This is a signal that such pressure might work for peace"
.

Communication with other leaders

In addition to

"negotiations with Trump"
, the Ukrainian leader also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron. During the conversation, they discussed coordinating actions with partners, accelerating arms deliveries, and aligning diplomatic steps for the coming weeks.

One of the important topics was the security at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Zelensky stressed that only Ukrainian control can ensure the stable operation of the plant, which currently remains without stable energy supply and has been operating on diesel generators for almost three weeks. He emphasized:

"This cannot be. Russia can and must stop shelling so that repair crews can work"
.

The head of state also called on the IAEA for a clearer position on Russia's actions at the ZNPP and emphasized that Ukraine is ready to restore the safe operation of the plant independently.

Earlier we reported that Zelensky signed a law on assistance of 50,000 hryvnias for those released from captivity.

The current negotiations with Trump and other world leaders highlight the importance of international support for Ukraine, especially in the context of rising military tensions. Strengthening defense capabilities and coordination with partners is critically important for ensuring the country's security, and further steps in international cooperation may be decisive in these efforts.
