Zelensky spoke about the number of Russian troops in Ukraine and Putin's plans.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reported that the number of Russian military personnel in Ukraine has tripled compared to the beginning of the full-scale invasion and currently stands at 608,000. At the same Time, the Russian Federation plans to demand a significant reduction of the Ukrainian army.
The head of state announced this during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday.
'If we recall the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in 2022, the Russian grouping was about 200,000 plus a certain number of separatists who controlled and still control the temporarily occupied east. I mean parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions... But you should know that today 608,000 Russian military personnel are in Ukraine,' Zelensky emphasized.
The president also revealed the future demands of the Kremlin regarding the Ukrainian army: 'One of the important questions that Putin will raise, and we will see this with you - is the reduction of the Ukrainian army by several times. If we managed to create an army of 800,000 plus, then it's clear that we plus Europe - this is an army capable of standing and defending its borders.'
According to Zelensky, the quickest way for Russia is to 'pressure the United States so that Ukraine is not in NATO, and press on all allies to make us reduce the army by five times. This is what he wants. We will not allow this to happen.'
Growth of Russian military production
The Ukrainian leader also drew attention to the growth of Russian military production: 'Putin has about 30 military factories. In Europe, there are 45, and he produces almost twice as much as Europe. This means he invests all in this, while Europe does not invest enough. Although Europe has greater capabilities.'
Zelensky warned that without the Ukrainian army and effective peace guarantees, Putin will continue his aggression: 'He will return with this army to occupy all the countries of the former Soviet Union. Then he will do as he did with our Crimea - entering other EU and NATO countries, being there at least a little, to put forward some demands and ultimatums.'
We remind you, Zelensky voiced plans to end the war and enhance European security.
