Zelensky: profession will not be the main criterion for mobilization exemption
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the profession will no longer be the main criterion for mobilization exemption. He mentioned this in an interview during a telethon.
«Ukraine is working on a new model for mobilization exemption, where the profession will not be the main criterion. The Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Economy are to develop the organization, and the profession for exemption has already been determined. I have issued the relevant order», - Zelensky said.
The president also claims that other criteria are needed for economic exemption to ensure an equal approach for everyone.
«I’ve been shown models, but they are not fair. It is difficult to choose one profession without choosing another. Other criteria are needed. A profession cannot be the sole criterion», - explained Zelensky.
The president also commented on the possibility of lowering the conscription age, about which there were discussions. According to him, Ukraine's Western partners demanded to lower the conscription age, but Ukraine did not agree to this.
Zelensky clarified that there is no provision for lowering the conscription age. He noted that these discussions create unnecessary debates and problems.
Previously, a military official assessed the possibility of lowering the conscription age in Ukraine.
