According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held discussions with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on February 5, 2023. The meeting focused on critical issues of security, energy cooperation, European integration, and diplomatic efforts to end the war. This dialogue underscores Poland's role as a key regional ally for Ukraine, especially as the conflict with Russia continues.

Poland reaffirmed its ongoing support for Ukraine in the war against Russia, highlighting the strength of bilateral relations. Plans to expand energy cooperation between the two nations were noted, representing a significant step forward in rebuilding Ukraine's damaged energy infrastructure. President Zelenskyy emphasized that

“rebuilding our energy sector is a top priority in the face of relentless Russian attacks.”

Defense Collaboration

The talks also covered Poland's participation in the PURL program, which involves acquiring air defense missiles. A substantial part of the conversation was dedicated to joint drone and arms manufacturing under the SAFE programs. These initiatives highlight the deepening strategic defense partnership between the two countries.

President Zelenskyy further stated that

“Poland has been and must remain a reliable friend to Ukraine and all of free Europe.”
It was announced that an international conference on Ukraine's recovery will be held in Poland in 2023, marking an important stage in Ukraine's European integration process. The Ukrainian President stressed that “Ukraine has been and will be maximally constructive. We must end this war for real.”

Thus, the negotiations between Zelenskyy and Tusk demonstrated the continued active cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in confronting current challenges, as well as both nations' efforts to ensure regional security and stability.

This meeting reflects the strategic importance of Ukraine-Poland collaboration, which is particularly vital amid the ongoing conflict. Deepening energy ties and joint defense projects can significantly strengthen both countries' positions internationally.
