Ukraine Deploys 201 Drone Experts to the Middle East, Zelensky Announces in UK Parliament.
Ukrainian President Addresses British Parliament
According to Novyny.live: On March 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a speech before the UK Parliament, revealing that 201 Ukrainian specialists are currently stationed in the Middle East to counter drone threats. He also confirmed that an additional 34 experts are ready to be dispatched in the near future. These personnel specialize in defending against Shahed drones, a type used in ongoing conflicts. This announcement comes amid heightened global focus on drone warfare and international security cooperation.
Zelensky stated that the experts were sent to the Middle East at the request of partners, including the United States.
“Ukraine has sent 201 Shahed experts to the Middle East. These are military specialists who know how to defend against and counter Shahed drones,”he declared during his address.
The British Parliament warmly welcomed the Ukrainian president with applause, signaling strong UK support for Ukraine’s security and defense efforts, particularly in addressing emerging challenges posed by drones in modern warfare.
Lindsey Hoyle, a member of Parliament, emphasized:
“We must celebrate the courage and determination of the Ukrainian people. Your nation has shown incredible resolve and ability to defend against Russian aggression. But we cannot celebrate without remembering that just over four years ago, Russia launched an illegal invasion into the very heart of Ukraine.”
International Support and Collaboration
Zelensky’s speech marked a significant moment, underscoring international backing for Ukraine in its fight against aggression and the need for continued security cooperation with global partners.
This initiative highlights Ukraine’s active role in the international security framework and its readiness to tackle new threats. Collaboration with the UK and the US could prove pivotal in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, especially amid the growing danger from drones. The importance of this move reflects not only the military but also the diplomatic dimension of support for Ukraine on the global stage.
