Key Remarks from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the need for unified action to counter Russian aggression. He stated that Ukraine is ready to engage in negotiations, but only under the condition that Europe imposes robust sanctions. These comments followed a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format, held in Brussels.

Speaking to the media after the session, Zelenskyy announced a major aid package from Belgium, scheduled for June 18. He emphasized the critical need to supply Ukraine with essential resources to resist the invasion, particularly air defense systems and military funding.

“The key is together—and we will stop them. We need air defense systems, everyone stressed that, as well as money for the army,” Zelenskyy said.

Thoughts on Putin and International Support

The president also commented on Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s actions, stating that Putin wants 'everything to burn for us' and labeled him a 'madman.'

“There will be no victory. He is physically afraid of his own army,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

He argued that Ukraine today is effectively the second-largest army within NATO, one that does not yield to what is considered the 'world’s second military power.' Zelenskyy also expressed his belief that Putin will remain in power until his death, with the sole goal of restoring the Soviet Union: “Putin will be in the Kremlin until death, and he has one aim—the return of the Soviet Union.”

These remarks underscore the gravity of the situation and the vital importance of international backing for Ukraine as it faces Russian aggression.

During the Ramstein meeting, Ukraine’s partners announced new assistance packages, which include:

  • additional F-16 fighter jets;
  • new contractual agreements;
  • weapons and armaments.

President Zelenskyy’s statements reflect Ukraine’s proactive stance on the global stage and highlight the crucial role of Western allies in countering Russian aggression. The aid packages revealed at the Ramstein session demonstrate growing international solidarity and a commitment among participating nations to provide Ukraine with the necessary resources to strengthen its defenses. This also underscores Ukraine’s strategic significance for global security and stability across Europe.
