Ukraine Technically Prepared for EU Accession by 2027, Says Zelenskyy.
Ukrainian President's Statements on European Integration
According to UATV: On March 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is technically prepared to open six negotiation clusters for accession to the European Union by 2027. He noted, however, that not all EU leaders are ready to support this process. This push for a concrete timeline comes as Ukraine seeks to anchor its future firmly within European political and economic structures.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine has repeatedly stated its readiness to become an EU member by that date.
"Ukraine has said many times that by 2027, Ukraine will be technically ready to become a member of the EU,"he remarked. The President also emphasized the critical importance of establishing a specific target date for membership:
"Therefore, a concrete date is needed. And 2027 is the time when we will be ready for this."
Ukraine's Position on Foreign Policy
Furthermore, he shared his view on the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating:
"Putin—whatever he promises America or Europe today, etc.—it's all a lie."These words underscore Ukraine's foreign policy stance and the significance of support from the international community in its pursuit of European integration, particularly in the face of ongoing Russian aggression.
Thus, Ukraine continues its course toward European integration, hoping for support from EU leaders in its aspirations to join the Union by 2027. Zelenskyy's statements demonstrate a clear intent to integrate into the European community, despite existing challenges and ambivalence among some EU leaders. The importance of this process for Ukraine extends beyond the economic aspect to encompass security and political stability. Support from European partners will play a key role in realizing these ambitions.
