Zelensky responded to the largest US sanctions against the Russian oil industry.
The US has imposed sanctions against the Russian energy sector, which affect many entities, including producers, insurance companies, and tanker fleets. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, these sanctions are aimed at undermining the financial base of the Russian military machine through supply disruptions. The restrictions target key Russian producers, insurance companies, service providers in the oil and gas sector, 184 tankers of the shadow fleet, and logistics facilities. Zelensky emphasized the importance of bilateral support from the US and is confident that new sanctions will significantly reduce Russia's revenues and its ability to conduct aggression.
It was reminded that the US has imposed extensive sanctions against the oil sector, including restrictions against PJSC 'SurguTneftegaz' and over 180 vessels involved in transporting Russian oil. The new sanctions package also concerns dozens of traders and two major oil companies.
It has also been reported that the Biden administration plans to impose additional sanctions against Chinese companies for supporting Russia before the end of the presidential term.
