Zelensky visited Sumy Region on the anniversary of the Kursk operation
On Wednesday, August 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky spent the day in the Sumy Region with Ukrainian defenders who participated in the Kursk operation. On the anniversary of this event, the head of state thanked the soldiers for their courage, efforts, and results, which have become historic for Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ukrainian leader on Telegram.
'We have brought the war to the territory of the aggressor state and continue to operate on its land', the president emphasized. He noted that the Ukrainian military stood firm even during difficult times when many doubted their capabilities and dedication. According to Zelensky, the Kursk operation demonstrated that the threats from Russia were mostly a manipulation.
During the operation, Ukrainian forces temporarily controlled more than 1300 kilometers of Russian territory. This forced the Russian command to redistribute troops from Donetsk and also seek support from North Korea. Furthermore, due to the actions of the Ukrainian military in Kursk, the enemy's plans for an offensive in the cities of Sumy and Kharkiv were thwarted.
During his visit to the Sumy Region, Zelensky honored the feat of soldiers and noted their achievements under challenging conditions. By visiting the sites of combat operations, he emphasized the importance of memory and recognition of the defenders' efforts in maintaining Ukraine's territorial integrity.Read also
