Zelensky spoke about the peacekeeping role of the USA and the age of mobilization.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he considers the participation of American troops in a possible peacekeeping mission on Ukrainian territory to be necessary. He believes that European allies do not have enough military potential to effectively deter Russia. Zelensky discussed this in an interview with Bloomberg. He also emphasized that the absence of American troops could lead to a split within NATO.
Zelensky noted that the United States cannot be ignored. Even if some European countries think they can do without US support, it is actually impossible. 'No one will take risks without the participation of the United States,' the president emphasized.
In his conversation with Bloomberg, Zelensky also mentioned the importance of relations with China. He expressed regret over the lack of dialogue with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which may influence Putin's position on resolving the conflict. Zelensky stressed that the Russian economy is highly dependent on China, so Beijing's position is very important. The President of Ukraine also called for any decision regarding Ukraine's future to be made with the country's participation in mind.
Zelensky warned that any ceasefire without long-term guarantees from Western allies may become a weapon for Russia to rearm and aggress. He also raised the question of the need for mobilization: 'Why mobilize more young people if they will not have weapons?'. The President of Ukraine responded critically to calls to reduce the draft age.
Trump offered Putin a 'deal' to end the war in Ukraine.
