Zelensky reveals split inside Putin’s inner circle: half want the war to end.
Ukrainian President’s Remarks
According to UATV: In an interview with The Guardian, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared his assessment of the divisions within Russian President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle regarding the war. He also addressed the state of Russia’s economy and Ukraine’s readiness for diplomatic talks. According to Zelensky, Putin’s close associates are split—some advocate for continuing the war, while others want it to stop. He noted that business figures are aware that 'the Russian economy is in a terrible state.' This internal rift highlights growing uncertainty among Moscow’s elite as the conflict drags on.
Readiness for Negotiations
Zelensky also stressed that Ukraine has been open to negotiations from the very start, responding to reports from a business figure about possible diplomatic initiatives.
“We did not want this war and we want to stop it” - Volodymyr Zelensky. Additionally, the Ukrainian president believes that any discussion between Russia and the United States about Ukraine without Ukraine’s involvement was a mistake, arguing that all key issues must be addressed with the Ukrainian side present.
Zelensky made it clear that Ukraine has no intention of giving up its territory. He previously stated that 'the fastest path to peace is to freeze the front line as it currently stands.' These comments underscore the importance of negotiations and conflict resolution in a format that includes all parties.
Zelensky’s remarks reflect the difficult situation Russia now faces and reinforce Ukraine’s stance on a potential peaceful resolution. The divide within Russian leadership could shape future developments, especially given the economic hardships Russia is experiencing. Ensuring Ukraine’s participation in any talks remains essential for addressing the interests of all sides and achieving lasting stability in the region.
